Within months top recording artists and producers from around the world would come to Philadelphia to capture the magic. This magic would come to be known as The Sound of Philadelphia. Over the next 3 decades Sigma Sound would own the charts and change studio recording forever.

For a generation of Americans, the experience of romantic love is inseparable from The Sound of Philadelphia. With passionate melodies, sophisticated string arrangements, seductive beats, and a positive social message, the artists and producers who came into Sigma Sound built the bridge between the soul music of the sixties and the Disco and Hip-Hop to come.

Set to a selection of classic songs the episodes will intercut in-depth interviews featuring legendary artists including the late Teddy Pendergrass, Billy Joel, and members of the Soul Survivors, the O’Jays, the Spinners, and Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes with commentary and recollections from a “Who’s Who” of present-day musical stars and cultural figures. Musicians from all cultures and backgrounds made the Philly sound make their mark.
